Importing and Exporting TED Data
In addition to entering data directly into TED , it can also be imported and exported to and from Microsoft Excel. This is an effective technique for quickly adding large amounts of data to TED.
Exporting Data
To export technology data, first select a TED category branch in the TED tree, then select Export to Excel () from Main Menu: Area . Next select which branches to export (The current branch and all below it, all branches, or current branch only) and which type of data to export. A checkbox allows you to include or exclude category branches.
Importing Data
To make importing data easier, you should first export some data to an Excel worksheet in order to generate a "template" worksheet containing the correct columns for the data you will enter. You can delete the data rows in this spreadsheet, but leave the column headings intact. Next, you need to create category branches in TED to contain the data that will be imported. Now enter the data in Excel. be sure that all fuels, units, and references appear exactly as listed in TED. References must use the full author name. Next, make sure the spreadsheet to be imported is the active sheet in excel . Finally, select Import from Excel () from Main Menu: Area.
