    Hi,

I am just wondering can LEAP be used to analyze a single house's energy consumption of appliances?

    Thanks,

    Junyi

    Hi Junyi,

In principle, yes you can use LEAP for this. If you find it useful then great, but you may find it to be "overkill" for your requirements. Bear in mind that while we strive to make LEAP as user friendly as we can, it is still more difficult to use than a simple spreadsheet may suffice depending on what you are trying to do.

    Best,

You could use RETScreen to do this analysis. RETScreen and LEAP are very complimentary, and this complimentarity will increase in the future as the two programs evolve.

For example, one could use RETScreen to analyse the effect, say, of implementing various energy efficiency measures on a home, building, factory, etc, and then, "roll-up" the analysis to apply it more generally to millions of homes, which then gets fed into LEAP. One can do interesting analysis to see the effect that certain policies or scenarios can have on aggregate, individual measures.

RETScreen is a project analysis software, which you can then "roll-up" to a wider LEAP analysis. RETScreen is free in 30 (soon 35!) languages here: www.retscreen.net
