    Hi,
I will be interested in analysing the possibility of using LEAP or another cost-benefit tool to analyse the economic and environmental effects of water supply and demand.
Is there any experience with such approach using LEAP?
Is LEAP an adequate potential tool for such analysis?
    Thanks
    Manuel

    Hello Manuel,

LEAP is really only suitable as an energy and climate mitigation analysis tool. I suggest you take a look at its "sister" tool, named WEAP, which is a software tool for integrated water resource analysis.

WEAP shares many of LEAP's features but is designed from the groun up for assessing water resources. Apart from water demand and supply it can also be used to examine hydrology, water quality and ground and surface water interactions.

I should note also that we have just started a new project that will link LEAP and WEAP to allow users to examine issues where energy and water intersect.

For more on WEAP, see http://www.weap21.org

    Best,

    Charlie
