it's difficult for me to construct Energy flow because my country have no "Oil refining", petroleum product is imported. Could you share some expriences to construct Energy flow?

and "Electricity Generation" I enter "Diesel oil" and "Fuel oil" in process but two this fuel isn't in Energy flow, Can you explain to me?

    Thank you so much.

    best regard.

    Hi Nghiem,

For future reference, the user guide is always the best place for initial information. The user guide documentation for the diagram view can be found below.

    http://tinyurl.com/22llauc

Now to answer your 2 questions:

    1. The diagram view does not show imports or exports, so if there is no oil refining module under transformation, it will not show up in the diagram view. To see the breakdown of imports and domestic production, see the energy balance view, which is also well documented in the user guide here: http://tinyurl.com/2f3uoea

    2. The gray labeled fuel nodes on the right of the energy flow diagram show the indigenously produced primary resources in your area. These must be entered in the "Resources" branch of the tree in addition to as a process under your electricity generation transformation module. However, if diesel oil and fuel oil are imported because there is no oil refining, they will not appear in the diagram view.

    Hi Tory,

Thanks for your help. Can you explain to me one more question, please.

Assumption that: Energy Demand of 5 sectors (Household, Industry, Transport, Agriculture, and Commercial) in 2015, 2020 are determined.
I only calculate emission, effects to environment.
When construct data tree, adding 5 branches above, set these branches type to the green icon, to enter energy intensity at these branches and add technology branches (contained in the Technology and Environment Database TED) below these branches.

if I can do like that?

    Please help me.

    Best,

    Nghiem.

    Hi Nghiem,

The green category folders are meant to be used when you want to indicate a category branch at which energy intensities are specified at one level up from the actual energy-using devices. These branches are useful in three main cases:

    1) where you have energy intensity data for an end-use, and only have fuel share data (not intensity data) for the fuels and devices within the end-use,

    2) where you have devices that use more than one fuel, and

    3) where you wish to conduct a Useful Energy Demand Analysis.

For more information on setting up categories, look at the user guide documentation here: http://tinyurl.com/2f8zdfr

TED's Data Pages include quantitative data on the technology characteristics, costs, and environmental impacts associated with specific energy technologies. Regardless of if you choose a regular category or category with aggregate energy intensity, you will be able to add emission factors with the TED database. Read more about TED here: http://tinyurl.com/2bttj26

I also recommend looking at Exercise 3 of the training materials as this walks you through setting up a sector with aggregate energy intensity. The training exercises can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/LEAP-training

    Hi Tory,

The following meassege appears every time I try to generate a result in LEAP

Error: Invalid denominator units for emission factor
    Branch: Transformation\Electricity Generation\Processes\Solar\Feedstock Fuels\Solar

Any have seen this problem before, if so, how did you solved?

    Thanks.

    Hi Nghiem,

That would appear to be an issue with the units you are entering for emission factors. Can you tell me what numbers and units you want to put in as emission factors for solar?

I enter "technology branch" name "Solar" under branch "process" of "Electricity Generation", emission data auto update from TED.

    Hi Nghiem,

I'm not sure what you mean by "auto-update from TED."

I don't think there are any emission factors for electric generation from solar in the TED database.

You are able to manually add environmental effects when there is no information in the TED database. I would suggest having no emission factors for solar unless you have really reliable data that allows you to do a more complicated model.
