    Hi Sean,

In order to understand what is happening I will need a little more information. Please provide as much of the following information as you can.

    1. What were you doing and what part of LEAP were you using when you see this error message?

    2. Is the problem reproducible and what exact steps would we need to take to do that?

    3. What operating system version do you have? (Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, etc.)

    4. What version of LEAP do you have? (check Help: About)

    5. Exact text of any error messages you get (in LEAP and Windows)

    6. Have you submitted an error report?

    7. Finally, please verify that you installed LEAP as an administrator.

To download LEAP properly you must be logged in as the administrator (not another user on the same computer) and then you must run LEAP at least once with these administrative rights so that registry keys can install properly.

If you want more information on admin rights issues, please see this related forum post: http://tinyurl.com/2axphzc

    Thanks!

    Tory

    Hi Tory
Thanks for your reply. Answers to your questions are below as well as the entire error report.

    1. What were you doing and what part of LEAP were you using when you see this error message?

It occurs when I click on a tab- which one seems random- it has occurred when I click on a branch of the tree in Analysis, Save, and drop down boxes on the data screen. I have been working my way through LEAP training Ex 1 and the error has occurred many times.

    2. Is the problem reproducible and what exact steps would we need to take to do that?

No- it seems random in when it crashes.

    3. What operating system version do you have? (Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, etc.)

    Vista

    4. What version of LEAP do you have? (check Help: About)

    2008.0.0.83

    5. Exact text of any error messages you get (in LEAP and Windows)

    contained in error report below

    6. Have you submitted an error report?

    Hi Sean,

Your error report shows that you are running as a standard user, not an administrator. To download LEAP properly you must be logged in as the administrator (not another user on the same computer) and then you must run LEAP at least once with these administrative rights so that registry keys can install properly.

Did you have admin rights to your computer when you installed?

Additionally, you should set the properties of the LEAP program files folder (C:\Program Files\LEAP) to give full control to all users.

If LEAP is still not running as an administrator, you can right click on the LEAP.exe file and click "Run as Administrator"

Another possibility is user account control (UAC) on Windows Vista and Windows 7 machines, which can occasionally interfere with the download and operation of LEAP. You can temporarily switch off UAC by going to the "User Accounts" section of control panel and clicking on "Change User Account Control Settings." Then select "never notify." If LEAP then runs OK you can switch UAC back on and gradually try setting an increased level of security in the UAC settings.

Let me know how this goes,

    Tory
