We are having problems installing the latest version of LEAP on one of our computers. The computer is running Windows XP 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3. We tried a number of ways of installing, but I will just describe our last attempt.
We first uninstalled the old version of LEAP using the "Remove" option in the Setup file that we downloaded from this website. Then we downloaded LEAP from this website again and attempted to install by clicking "Run". The first time we tried we got an error message "c:\Documents and Settings\chen\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\CLMXM70P\setup[1].exe is not a valid Win32 application." Yet there appears to be no such ...\Local Settings\... directory on this computer.

So we tried running the Setup program again. This time it appeared to install without error. However, when we tried to run LEAP, we received the error message "Zipper: Cannot create file "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\LEAP Settings\_directory\AREAS.DB" - Native error:00019. File processing error, possibly disk is full." Yet the disk is not full, and there appears to be no security settings that would inhibit creating a file in the ...\All Users\ subdirectory (we tried manually adding a subdirectory under it).

LEAP works okay on our other computers, which are identically configured. Any ideas why it doesn't work on this one computer, and how we might fix this problem?

    Hi Ralph,

I apologize for the delayed reply. It sounds to me like the first setup.exe file did not install completely or properly from internet explorer. This could mean that there is an issue downloading from Internet Explorer (in which case, I suggest upgrading to the latest IE or downloading from a different browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome) or that there is an issue with administrative rights. Though you have checked the security settings on the ...\All users\ subdirectory, I suggest you also check the following things:

    1. Make sure that you are the administrator (not a regular user on the same computer) by going to Control Panel > User Accounts and see if the user type is "Computer Administrator."

    2. I suggest you also delete the LEAP Settings Folder (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\LEAP Settings) and try to install again.

    3. After installing, check to see if you have full security permissions to the specific "LEAP Settings" folder by right clicking on it and ensuring that the folder does NOT have the "read-only" attribute. I suspect the LEAP error that you are getting is because of an inability to write files to that directory.

    4. You could also try running the setup.exe file as an administrator (right click "Run as" and choose the administrator option).

If you continue to have this issue, please let us know and provide any error messages you receive along the way. If you are still having issues we will investigate further.

    Best,

    Tory
