Hi Sarada,
I will answer each of your questions individually.
1. I assume you are talking about improving the quality of coal by “washing” it with water and chemicals to remove sulfur and impurities before it can be burned in a power plant. LEAP does not take into account water usage or water contamination due to energy-related processes at this time.
2. I have not ever attempted to model the methane emissions of natural gas flaring in T&D losses. I would imagine that it is possible, though. I suggest that you experiment with a few different methods and let me know (just post a response to this message) if you run into any snags. Also, if any other users have tried this, please post your solutions or advice.
3. For historical production, you should enter net electricity generated, because LEAP does not use power plant performance variables to calculate output for historical production. To read more about how LEAP uses transformation variables, see the documentation in the user guide.
