    To whom it may concern,

I am having trouble with the transport section 2.2 of training exercise 2. When I proceed to calculate the results this error comes up:
    Error
    Transformation calculations failing to converge.
    Scenario: Reference
    Year:2001

I then click to see the problem and I get a diagnostics message with 4 messages, the first 3 messages are iterations for the calculate of the GJ residual production for Gasoline and the final message is a repeat of the initial error message: Transformation calculations failing to converge.

If I change the fuel of the cars in exercise 2 to anything else the analysis completes itself but not when I use gasoline. Any suggestions to where I am going wrong.

    Regards,

    Barry Tyther

    Hi Barry,

Can you let me know what version of LEAP you are using? There is a similar issue in older versions of LEAP, but it should be fixed in v.93.

More than likely, this error suggests that demand and supply data is hugely out of proportion to each other. I would suggest you go the General: Basic Parameters: Calculations screen and uncheck the following options:

    Check unmet requirements
    Check surplus requirements

This won’t fix the problem but will probably allow LEAP to calculate through so that you can see demand results and thus investigate further where the problem lies.

You may also want to simply turn off all Transformation calculations until you have your demand numbers right. You can do that by visiting the General: Basic Parameters: Scope screen.

You can also always check your dataset against the results dataset. This can be downloaded from within LEAP by going to Area: Install: Install from Internet.

    Best,

    Tory
