    Hi Maggie,

It sounds like LEAP may not have installed correctly. Did you do a full install from the website or did you upgrade from within LEAP?

In any case, my guess is that one of the following three things will fix the problem.

    1. Administrative rights

On all Windows machines, administrative rights can interfere with the proper installation and operation of LEAP.

To download LEAP properly you must be logged in as the administrator (not another user on the same computer) and then you must run LEAP at least once with these administrative rights so that registry keys can install properly.

Next you should set the properties of the LEAP program files folder (C:\Program Files\LEAP) to give full control to all users. For more information on where LEAP files are stored, please go to General: Basic Parameters and click on the Folders tab.

If LEAP is still not running as an administrator, you can right click on the LEAP.exe file and click "Run as Administrator"

    2. Language and Regional Configuration Settings

If your PC is configured to a non-US country or non-English language, it is possible that the decimal and comma configurations conflict with LEAP. To check this, go to Control Panel and "Region and Language." On the "Formats" tab, click on "Additional Settings" at the bottom right of the screen. Verify that the decimal symbol is a different symbol from the list separator. If they are different, there is no problem. If they are the same, you have 2 options.

    1. Change to the English (USA) configuration
    2. Manually edit the Region and Language Additional Settings and change the list separator to a new symbol like a semicolon ";"

    3. User Account Control

On Windows Vista and Windows 7 machines, User Account Control can occasionally interfere with the download and operation of LEAP.

You can temporarily switch off UAC by going to the "User Accounts" section of control panel and clicking on "Change User Account Control Settings." Then select "never notify." If LEAP then runs OK you can switch UAC back on and gradually try setting an increased level of security in the UAC settings.

Please let me know if this does not resolve the issue and we will investigate further.

    Best,

    Tory

    Hi Maggie,

Please fill out the following document as completely as possible and email it to leap@sei-us.org.

    http://tinyurl.com/ProblemReport

Please include in the document the following information:

    1. Were you downloading LEAP for the first time or were you upgrading from a previous version (if so, what version)?

    2. If you upgraded from a previous version, did you install from the website or upgrade from within LEAP (in the Help: Check for Updates menu)?

    Thanks!

    Tory
