I have been having some problems with the simulation of load dispatch by the different units.
I have set dispatch by merit order for lignite units (1), natural gas and fuel oil units (2) and largy hydro (3) and I want to run the RES units to proportional capacity (actually in the energy system they are introduced into the system whenever they produce).
I have 5 scenarios but when I set these rules, there are too many iterations in one of them, so calculations cannot converge.
I have been trying other rules, like setting merit order 1 to the RES units, but the dispatch doesn't seem as it is supposed to be (large hydro and fuel oil plants production is reduced too much etc).
Have you got any idea about how I could modify these dispatch rules?

We would love to be able to help you with this question, but we will need a bit more information about the situation you are hoping to model.
I realize that we do not currently have any guidelines for posting questions to these discussions (perhaps it is something we should add), but I will note that we have found the following resource helpful for providing guidance about how to ask and answer questions in the most helpful way.
Specifically related to you question, can you tell me more about the dispatch that you want to have? Which plants do you want to be the base load, and which are the peak load plants? Do you want to dispatch renewable power plants in proportion to capacity or by merit order? Have you read the related help files (urls found below)?

I am sorry if wasn't very clear. As I said, I want lignite units to be base load, natural gas units as second in dispatch and hydro plants for peak power. Generally the other RES units dispatch their load to their system whenever they produce energy.
I thought I would be able to combine these rules (merit order and proportional to capacity), but in some scenarios it seems that the calculations do not converge. I will try to work it out, thank you.

2460 Views Hi Argiro,
You are able to combine dispatch rules, so that should not be the issue. Please check out the link I listed above for the basic parameters settings to make sure that is set up to best converge with the model you have set up.
Let me know if you still have questions after trying that out and going through the documentation.
