    Hi there,

I am a new user of the LEAP software, and am currently in the process of working through Exercise 2. I am having a hard time changing the activity level from 'Households' (as it was for all of the demand branches for Exercise 1) to 'Per Tonne' (as it should be for the Industry branches). Could anyone help me figure out how I can change the activity level from Households to Per Tonne?

    Thanks very much,
    Madeleine

    Hi Madeleine,

Sorry for the late reply, but I hope this helps answer your question. Make sure that when you create a new demand sector, you open a new branch underneath in the “Demand” category, and not accidentally under the existing “Household” category. Once the branch is created, you’ll be able to change the Units (under the Activity Level tab, on the right side) to “No data”.

Since “Industry” encompasses several types of demand, not all subsectors will use a consistent set of units. You can add a separate branch under Industry for Iron and Steel, the outputs of which are measured in Metric Tonnes. Set this as the unit for Iron and Steel, and your final energy intensities should inherit this unit, and read, in the final column, "per Metric Tonne".

If you run into more problems, have a look at the Freedonia data set that comes installed with LEAP, which contains each of the completed exercises.

    Good luck with it,

    Taylor
