I am a PhD student at the Centre for Environmental Sciences at the University of Hasselt in BELGIUM. I am currently working on a paper that compares energy generating and non-generating technologies, and I notice several similarities with LEAP. Moreover, I combined economic and environmental performances to obtain GHG mitigation costs, and I assessed the impact of policy on the according technologies. Hence, I was wondering
    1) If there are any LEAP workshops planned for PhD students in the coming year?
    2) If there is anyone interested in a collaboration, i.e. I would like to know what the exact differences are between my analysis and a LEAP analysis, and how LEAP could contribute to the obtained results.

In case of further questions, do not hesitate to ask: ellen.deschepper@uhasselt.be

    Kind regards,
    Ellen

    Hi Ellen,

Typically, LEAP workshops are put together by request (often by an organization undertaking a project for which they are looking to build their LEAP expertise), but many are also open to the public. You can keep track of upcoming workshops here:

    http://www.energycommunity.org/default.asp?action=104

They are organized for a cost, but if you feel that your department would benefit from such a workshop and has available funding, we'd be happy to discuss the option further.

In the meantime, we certainly encourage you to work through the online training materials (http://www.energycommunity.org/default.asp?action=42), which are often the best place for new users to start. If you run into problems, the forum (which you've already discovered) is a good place to ask questions!

Regarding your second question, I'll leave that open to our COMMEND members, but I think it's a great opportunity for the community to share expertise.

    Best of luck,

    Taylor

    Hi all,

Unfortunately we can not maintain a database of interested parties, and contact them when a workshop becomes available in their area. I would recommend checking back regularly to this page:

    http://www.energycommunity.org/default.asp?action=104

That way, for public workshops, you will be able to directly contact the organizers of the workshop.

    Take care,

    Taylor
