Topic: Immortal wind turbine in optimisation scenario?Subscribe | Previous | Next

    Hi,

I will use LEAP extensively in my research about collective energy systems for industrial and business areas.

While experimenting I stumbled upon following question:

I constructed an energy system with constant electricity demand from 2013 to 2050 and containing wind turbines that can be installed to meet this demand in two different scenarios

wind turbines: lifetime 15 years, availibility 100%, efficiency 100%

    scenarios:
    - optimisation scenario
    - scenario with endogenous capacity

In the optimisation scenario, the wind turbine is only invested in once. So it not decommissioned after its lifetime

In the second scenario, the wind turbine is invested in three times, like expected.

So my question: what is going wrong in the optimisation scenario and how to fix it?

    Thanks a lot in advance!
    Kind regards

    Jonas

    Hi Jonas,

We've noted that OSeMOSYS does not report capacity additions in a very transparent way, even though it appears to supply sufficient capacity to meet demand. This is a problem we'll be addressing in the future.

I'll be continuing my discussion with you over email.
