    Hi everyone,

So, I have been working on LEAP these months, I have now these results in which Renewables and Hydro resources should be imported. I expected that there would be shortfalls in electricity that should be imported, but why instead of electricity it appears on these resources?

    Thanks in advance,

    Bests,
    Jorge

    Hi Jorge,

Let me make sure I understand your question. You've set up an electricity shortage, and you expected that electricity would be imported directly to make up that shortage. Instead, you're finding that two fuels (which you use to generate electricity) are imported, and are then used to generate electricity domestically. Is that correct? I'll do my best to point you in the right direction, but there could be several things amiss that I may not notice without seeing your data set.

My first question is, why do you expect that electricity should be imported? Have you limited the capacity of your plants? It sounds like LEAP is having no difficulty meeting your electricity demand, and happily imports the resources that it needs to generate the required electricity (importing them because you may not have specified any Base Year Reserves or Additions to Reserves in the Resource branches of your area). Another place to check is the Shortfall Rule for your output fuel - electricity - in your Electricity Generation module. If you want to force LEAP to import electricity directly, you'll want to set this to 'Import fuel to meet shortfall'.

    Have a look here:

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Taylor,
I did establish an electricity shortage. I'm so sorry for the delay, your answer was really helpful.
Now I know that those resources are ment to be transformed in electricity to fill the demand.

    Thanks!
