    Hi Charlie and the team,

I have problem with the diagram on my LEAP file which I think it is not correspond with the energy balance. For instance, there is lubricant product in diagram meantime it is not available in my analysis and energy balance as well. I also cannot zoom in the box of lubricant to trace the problem.

    Thank you

    Hello Dedi,

The reason that you can't zoom in on the lubricants branch of your diagram is that it's not a transformation process itself, but a product as you'd mentioned. However, are you able to zoom out from it, to see in which transformation module it's being produced? LEAP doesn't include fuels or products in its Diagram (or Energy Balance) views unless they are used in your area, so I would double-check that you haven't accidentally added Lubricant as an output to one of your transformation branches.

Let me know if I've misinterpreted your question!

    Best,

    Taylor

    Hi Taylor,

Thank you for your reply. What I don't understand is that the lubricant and natural gas in right side diagram (fig http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/29/9x20.png) is not included or used in my area.

Also in energy balance as shown by chart (fig http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/3171/gud3.png), the lubricant is not listed. I also already rechecked there is no input of lubricant. It is simple problem but I am afraid my diagram concept is wrong and may cause miscalculation of my model.

    Best Regards,
    Dedi

    Hi Dedi,

I'm afraid that neither of those image links work, but from the LEAP model that you sent to leap@sei-us.org, I see the problem that you've pointed out.

You're correct, there does appear to be a fuel in the diagram view that you haven't added yourself. It appears that this may have been the result of deleting a branch (perhaps in some non-standard way?) that had a fuel associated with it, but the reference to the fuel in your model was not removed completely. While we haven't seen this before, we'll make sure that this won't happen in future versions of LEAP.

    Thanks for the pointer!

    Hello Taylor,

Thank you for fixing my area model. Btw, I am still curious why this happened and what should I do to fix it? I think the problem is so simple but it makes me hard philosophically to explain energy system to someone else. Once again, thank u. It help me very much.

    Best Regards,
    Dedi

    Hi Dedi,

Unfortunately, there is no real way to know exactly what happened. It's the first time that I have (personally) seen such a problem, and there are a number of conceivable ways that it could appear (perhaps an error in migrating the dataset from one version of LEAP to another, or an improperly deleted branch in the tree).

We'll be taking steps in the next version of LEAP to check that such an error does not arise again, now that we understand how to fix it.

    Best,

    Taylor
