    Hi Taylor,
I have question about exogenous capacity tab under electricity generation. I wrote historical production from 1990 to 2012. Because of insufficient data of exogenous capacity (installed capacity of power plants due to fuel types), I had to take period as 2001-2012.I read the definition of exogenous tab in LEAP, but I could not see clear explanation about this situation.Do I have to write 1990-2000 period in exogenous capacity?

    Thanks for your help

    Hi there Hasret,

I think I'm a bit confused by your question. When you say that you had to 'take the period 2001 - 2012', do you mean that you changed the number of years in Current Accounts to 2001 (the Base Year) to 2012 (with 2013 being the First Scenario Year), in Basic Parameters? In that case there would be no need (indeed, LEAP would not allow it) to specify any kind of data before 2001.

However, I suspect I'm misunderstanding your question - can you clarify a little bit? I think specifically I don't understand what you mean by 'insufficient data of exogenous capacity'.

    Thanks,

    Taylor

I think I did not clarify my question. My base year is 2012 and first simulation year is 2013.

In Electricity Generation part, under process folder:
    For historical production tab,
    I wrote ( for example)
    Interp (1990,5,1991,2000,....,2012,300) for natural gas

however, I do not have data for exogenous capacity for natural gas between 1990-2000. Therefore, I wrote under exogenous tab,
    Interp(2001,300,....,2012,50000)

Is this arrangement correct in LEAP?
    Thanks ,

    Hi Hasret,

Remember, there will need to be some level of agreement between your historical production and exogenous capacity - LEAP will generate a diagnostic message if it finds that there is, for example, insufficient available capacity to meet the levels of historical production that you've specified under Current Accounts.

So if you only have specific natural gas plant capacity data from 2001->, you'll want to also ensure that there is at least some exogenous capacity before that year as well, in order to generate the historical electricity production that you have included.

    Hope that helps,

    Taylor
