    Dear,

I have met a problem when doing the exercise 3.
The energy balance table is not the same as the training exercise PDF 2012, page 45.I tried but didn't find the reason.

    There is the problem:
In 2010 the oil products are imported and there is no crude oil imported. The oil refining doesn't produce anything. But the following years are normal and correct.

I have checked my dispatch rule is percent share and the process share is 100%. The capacity is inputted.

    Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

    Hello Jiayao,

From your description, it sounds like there is a problem with your Current Accounts, since the data in current accounts will be used to generate your 2010 energy balance. I would also guess that you have not included any Exogenous Capacity for your Crude Oil process, under Current Accounts, which could explain why oil products are being imported, rather than produced in your area.

To check this, have a look in Results view under Transformation:Capacity. Ensure that you have defined oil refining capacity in the year 2010.

On a more general note, while you're working through the general exercises, at any time you can open the Freedonia data set (after saving the model you're working on!), and select Area:Revert to Version, which will allow you to see the completed training modules, and compare them with your own progress.

    Good luck,

    Taylor

    Hello Taylor,

I have found the error. I set the First Simulation Year to be 2011 instead of the default value 2001, which resulted in the year 2010 all oil products must be imported.

Will it be safe to set the First Simulation Year earlier than the actual year 2010?

    Thanks .

    Hi Jiayao,

The First Simulation Year divides the periods during which 'Historical Production' is used to determine how much each plant produces, and when LEAP's Dispatch Rules determine the annual power production.

    http://www.energycommunity.org/WebHelpPro/Transformation/First_Simulation_Year.htm

Technically, you can set it to whatever you'd like, but if you set it to 2010 or earlier, then any data that you are given about how much each plant has produced in 2010 will be overridden by what LEAP thinks should be generated, following its Dispatch Rules.

    Hope this helps,

    Taylor
