    Hi !

I am doing an optimization scenario in LEAP

    Branch Transformation > Electricity Generation
    I set Optimize > Yes
    Renewable target > 20

    I get the following error:

' The system load shape must specified as as " energy load shape " for optimization calculations.
Go to Basic Parameters loads to change this settings."

    I went to the :
Basic Parameters > loads > load shape for entire system % of Annual generation , is now chosen

    Again, a new error:

"System Energy Load Shape variables must be specified with a yearly shape of type: "Energy Load Shape". The base year shape you selected is type: Peak Load Shape
Go to the General: Yearly Shapes screen to view the current library of yearly shapes."

    Branch:Transformation\Electricity Generation
    Variable:System Energy Load Shape
    Scenario:Current Accounts
    Year:2011
    Expression:YearlyShape(System Load Shape)

So, I fixed this by changing:
General > yearly shapes> shape type > energy load shape % of annual load

    Now I get this error

load factor is greater than 100%
    Branch transformation / electricity generation
    variable system peak load shape
    scenario current account
    Year 2011
    expression YearlyShape(System Load Shape)

    ..................................

So I try to fix this error but I can NOT. Would you help me with this?

    Best regards

    Sultan

It sounds like the load shape you are using is not correctly specified.

Please post your data set here as a .leap data file so I can take a look. If you don't wish your data set to be public then you can email it to me (as a .leap file) at leap@sei-us.org

    Thanks!

    Charlie

    Hi Sultan,

Looking at your load curve, I see that the values for percentage of annual load sum to a number greater than 100%. However, an energy load shape must describe the percentage of total annual energy in each time slice (and therefore will sum to 100% across all time slices).

Have a look at these two help files which describe the difference between peak and energy load shapes:

    http://www.energycommunity.org/WebHelpPro/Transformation/System_Energy_Load_Shape.htm

    http://www.energycommunity.org/WebHelpPro/Transformation/System_Peak_Load_Shape.htm

    Hope this helps,

    Taylor

    Hi Ahmad,

The message "No Primal Feasible Solution" indicates that OSeMOSYS was not able to reach a solution, given the constraints which you applied to your system.

This often means that you have specified conflicting constraints. An example of a conflicting constraint may be that you are enforcing a nonzero renewable target, but have no renewable processes to build.

Try first running your model without any additional constraints, to see if a solution can be found. You can then gradually add them back in, to give you an understanding of which ones may be conflicting with one another.

    Hope this helps,

    Taylor
