    Greeting,

Thank you for the wonderful software and forum!

Unfortunately I can see starter data for Saudi Arabia. Therefore, I am thinking to use data of a country with similar demographic/economic characteristics such as UAE. However, from what I understood I have to change my country in my profile to UAE to be able to download the required data (please correct me if i am wrong).

Also would it be possible for someone to send me Saudi Arabia data if it was available somewhere...?

Thank you in advance for your time and support.

    Regards

    Hi,

Unfortunately, our agreement with data providers means that we can only issue national starter datasets to researchers who are from the country for which we are providing the dataset. This means that we cannot issue the UAE dataset to you.

In addition, since our starter dataset tool is currently being upgraded for the most recent version of LEAP, we are not able to provide you with a Saudi Arabia starter model at this time.

You may still find our Starter Dataset Notes useful as a place to begin, for its references and description of the modeling methodology:

We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you.

    Best,
    Taylor

Please don't lose heart! Even though we don't have a LEAP starter data set for your country, you can always create your own data set. I suggest you start by reading the attached data requirements notes. In some countries data may be readily available from Government web sites (e.g. some ministries of energy publish energy balances on their web sites). In other cases you may need to contact various institutions yourself to request access to data. For example, you may want to reach to ministries of energy and the main electric utility.

    I hope this helps.

    Best,

    Charlie
