Leap Training manual (2014) pg 23 "Next you will add three processes to represent the various power plants available"... followed by table values to add. (End of explanation)

On which screen/module are these data entered? Specifically, historical data on electricity production/use for the baseline year.

I have an entire GEF with current historical fuels, types, % but "for the life of me" cannot find the most basic function: Where is this current historical data entered?

    Hi,

Each of the generation processes will be represented under the 'Processes' folder, shown in your newly-created Transformation Module. Generally in LEAP, to add new branches underneath an existing branch (i.e. underneath the Processes folder), you would:

    1) Select the branch with your mouse, and
    2) Click the green plus sign, to add a new branch underneath your currently selected branch.

In LEAP, current or historical data (like the characteristics of these power plants, or their historical production) are entered under Current Accounts.

    Hope this helps!

Taylor: Found the problem (outside of the stated set of assumptions). I was not creating a new model, I was editing a previous example which some data was already filled in. To show "Historical Values:" Under Transformation, under each process, right click on process, you must make sure that the Transformation Module properties, "Types of Data to Include" are checked.....which then displays multiple process variables, including Historical Values to be inputted.

    Hi James,

Glad you've figured it out - but I thought another reply was warranted.

First, I'm not sure specifically what you mean by "Historical Values". There is no variable in LEAP called "Historical Value", so you could be referring to any of the variables which appear for a Transformation Process, but which are specified during the Current Accounts period.

There is a variable called 'Historical Production' (described here: www.energycommunity.org/WebHelpPro/Transformation/Base_Year_Output.htm), which is shown only for processes in a Transformation module which has the 'Capacities' box checked in the module properties. This is one of the options below the title "Types of data to include:", but it is not necessary for all of these options to be checked to enable the 'Historical Production' variable.

Note that in order to arrive at this stage in the training manual, you should already have set your module properties according to the instructions shown on page 22. I just want to make sure you haven't accidentally missed any instructions, since the exercises build on top of one another!

    Take care,
    Taylor
