I am trying to add battery storage into my LEAP model. I read in the "Help" section in the software that the there is a storage variable. This storage variable is to be set as a static value of Yes/True or No/False. It is only visible in current accounts and is found in the transformation module under electricity generation.

I followed the steps outlined in the Help section but I am still unable to find the storage variable. Which will allow me to add in batteries to my model.

What I am missing to enable this variable and how exactly do I find it?

    Kind regards,

    Stuart

    Hi Stuart,
I'm very sorry but this is a case where the Help file has gotten ahead of the software. I am working on adding storage modeling capabilities to LEAP right now but they are not yet ready. What you were reading was meant to be hidden until these features are ready.
I guess this disproves my theory that no one reads the help files!

I hope to have storage working by late Summer.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Best wishes,

    Charlie

    Hello Charles,

Thank you for the response. So is there is any other way I can model battery storage at the moment?

    Kind regards,

    Stuart

Hi Stuart - at the moment the answer is "not really". You can always model the effect of more storage on a system by manually adjusting the shape of the load curve but this probably is not what you wanted to hear. As mentioned before, adding better storage modeling is currently our top priority, and I hope to have something available by late Summer. Thanks for your patience!

Any update on support for storage modeling?
Storage is becoming a major issue in long term planning and would be a very helpful feature.

    Hi Dron,

Sorry for the delay in responding. Adding storage modeling capabilities to LEAP is definitely on our radar! We are still working through the details, but the plan is to roll it out in 2017. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Best regards,
    Emily

    Hi Emily,

Any update about ETA for storage in LEAP? My class team is working on a project that may depend on storage. The project is due in the beginning of March, so if your team plans to roll out the feature in the next week or so, we will try to wait it out for this functionality.

    Thanks!

Hi Bri - energy storage capabilities in LEAP are not going to be rolled into the main distribution for a little while yet. Sorry we can't commit to a deadline, though it won't be before your class assignment is due.

    Hi,

I'm currently starting work on a model designing an energy system with energy storage and was wondering if the capability has been introduced to LEAP yet? And if not is there any other modelling software recommendations capable of this?

    Kind Regards,
    Thomas

Sorry Dron, not yet. I'm afraid we can't promise a timeline at this point.

    Hello,

Do you perhaps any news on the battery storage feature?
