    Hello
In my energy model, for Industries I have electricity consumption data, so I am putting the activity level of industries as $million of GDP. For transport, I have the different fuels and its import cost. For Transport, its activity level is given in million $ of import of fuel. And then the different fuels activity levels are given as % share of total fuel import.
Am I doing this the right way? This is for industries $ is for GDP and for transport $ is for import cost. Would LEAP be able to differentiate between the two in results.
Appreciate your input and clarification in this.

    Regards

    Hi Ravita,

When you assign a unit for your Activity Level, LEAP uses this only as a multiplicative factor (together with energy intensity) to determine the total quantity of energy consumed at a demand branch. For example, total energy = Activity Level * Final Energy Intensity, or put another way, "units" of energy consumption multiplied by amount of energy consumed per "unit".

You are free to assign the same unit to different Activity Level variables, even if they have different interpretations. LEAP will differentiate between them because you have assigned these units to different branches in your tree.

Yes. Thank you very much Taylor. Now how would I be able to make a scenario where Transport fuel import cost will decrease. My transport sector branch are all with respect to total transport fuel price and in Reference scenario I am saying its annual growth is 5% . For mitigation scenario, I can simply say annual growth rate for transport fuel import is -3%. Is there some other expression I can use to reduce import cost?

    Hi Ravita,

Yes, you would simply change the growth rate in your new scenario.

But I want to make clear that although you are calling the Activity Level for your transport branch "import cost", it is not recognized as a financial cost in LEAP and therefore not included in any social cost accounting. It is simply a measurement of how many energy consuming units there are for your transport branch.
