Topic: NPV calculations not the same after update 2015.0.27 Subscribe | Previous | Next

    Hi
The sum of capital, fixed and var O&M and fuel costs (from the social costs tab) equalls NPV of that particular scenario in the cost-benefit summary. I checked by extracting the results for these variables for three different scenarios in excel and summed up across 20 year horizon. The total amount in $billion of all scenarios was the same as NPV. However, since I have installed the recent update, they differ widely. NPV stays the same but constituent cost estimates have changed.

I recently wrote an email to Taylor explaining the same problem differently. These inconsistencies (if it's just not me being stupid here) could be looked into.
    Hoping to get some help.

    Regards
    Hanan

Hi Hanan - sorry for this problem. I will try and look into this ASAP because it sounds like it might be a fairly serious bug. Could you possibly send me your data set (as a .leap file). Please email to charlie.heaps@sei-us.org

Thanks and apologies again for the inconvenience.

Dear Mr. Heaps I'm really sorry it was just a silly mistake on my part. I set absolute discounted costs as default which changed after the update to real costs. And i confused the difference with very high fuel costs in a certain scenario which had a different reason behind it.
I have discussed this with Taylor too and it's fine now. There is no bug in the program; it rocks.
    I'm sorry again

    Regards
    Hanan
