Topic: fuel cost not appearing in the total cost Subscribe | Previous | Next

    Hi there,

this is with reference to results view in page 75 - training section 6.3.1.

my result does not show the 'cost of fuel production' in the cumulative social cost. so it does not match with the graph shown in page 75.

I have properly linked the fuel costs to the indigenous cost.

whereas for the installed capacity, my result matches with the graph shown in page 76.

Shall be awaiting for your kind support.

    thank you

    Dorji

    Hi Dorji,

Sorry for the wait. The Fuel Production costs arise from the resources branches for domestically produced (indigenous) fuels. So you need to be sure to select the top-most part of the tree, to view cost results for each part of your energy system - including fuel costs from the resources branches. Be sure as well that you're viewing costs by Social Cost Category, selected from the menu on the right of the chart.

If this does not solve your problem, then assuming you have correctly specified Indigenous Costs for each of the fuels, have you also specified sufficient Yield and/or Base Year Reserves? Without any domestic availability of these fuels, there can be no (domestic) production which gives rise to the "Fuel Production" social cost category.

    Hope this helps,
    Taylor

    Hi taylor,

thank you for your kind response.

however I still cannot see the fuel production cost when I try to view my result so as to compare with the graph shown in Page 75.

I can see the fuel production cost for gas and coal, when I click on the resource tree. why its does not appear along with the transformation capital and O&M costs?

    thank you,

    Dorji

    Hi Dorji,

Just to be clear - when viewing Social Cost results, have you selected the very top branch in your tree? This will be the branch with the same name as your LEAP area. This should include costs which enter your model at each part of the tree: Demand branches, Transformation branches and Resource branches (and also Non-Energy branches, if appropriate). Note that fuel cost results (these include Fuel production, Fuel Imports, Fuel Exports and Unmet Fuel Requirement costs) arise in the Resources branches - not in the Transformation branches, and this means you will only see them when you have selected the Resources branch or the top-level branch in your tree.

These fuel costs do not appear when viewing costs for the Transformation branches so that they are not counted twice in the overall social cost accounting. Have a look over this help file for some more information about LEAP's treatment of costs:

    Hope this helps,
