Topic: Electricity import error with optimize function Subscribe | Previous | Next

    Hello,
I have a branch under my electricity generation module named "intertie" for electricity import with its own capacity (MW) and other defined parameters; availability, efficiency, etc. for the base year and subsequent five more years. The feedstock fuel for the technology branch is electricity but it is dispatching output only for the base year whilst I have similar parameters defined for the other years. I have tried to use the historical production data but it is still not dispatching in the results and this consistently makes generation output to be less than demand in those years. I have observed that this technology branch dispatches when the optimize function is not activated. Kindly help to look into this.
    Kind regards,

    Ade

    Hi Ade,

Thanks for your message. Unfortunately, there is a known problem with the optimization function when electricity is used as a feedstock fuel. To circumvent this issue, we suggest creating a new fuel to represent the imported electricity. To create a new fuel, go to General > Fuels (or click on the Fuels icon from Analysis View) and add a fuel. Name the fuel as you wish (for example, "Imported Electricity") and copy the properties from an existing fuel (in this case, electricity). Then, select the newly created fuel as your feedstock fuel.

Hopefully this helps, but if you continue to experience issues, please let us know.

    Thanks!
    Emily
