    Greetings,

I have learnt LEAP from user manual, and we know that LEAP uses OSeMOSYS for optimization process.
    I have a question.

Could LEAP produce OSeMOSYS .txt data file ?
So that we can optimize the .txt data file (which have been produced by LEAP) independently, outside LEAP, and only using OSeMOSYS + solver?

Because i have seen that OSeMOSYS .txt data file is such a gigantic file and has many rows.
And I wonder if there are any possibilities that LEAP can produce OSeMOSYS .txt data file using friendly LEAP user interface.

Thank you so much for anybody who reply and answer my question. I really appreciate it.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Wicaksono,

Yes, LEAP can create an input data file for use with OSeMOSYS and a solver of your choice. To create this file, go into Basic Params: Optimization, select "Keep Intermediate Results" and calculate the Area by clicking on Results View. After the calculation is done, open the LEAP Areas folder using Windows Explorer (Documents\LEAP Areas), open the relevant area and look for the file(s) named "OpData#.txt". An input data file is created for each scenario where optimization is enabled. After you open the file, you can find the scenario name written in the file details near the top.

Other files included in the folder include:

    • OSeMOSYS.txt - the OSeMOSYS model file to be used with the data file
    • OpResults#.txt - the OSeMOSYS results that are incorporated into LEAP's results
    Hope this helps!

    Hi Emily,

Thank you so much for answering my question. Your answer is what i've looked for!

I have looked the result, and I have more question, can LEAP also produce and present the results file in different extension (i.e. comma-separated values (CSV) so that I can examine the result more friendly and easily?

    Thank you.

    Hi Wicaksono,

The OSeMOSYS results file can only be produced in .txt format when using LEAP.

Note that you can convert the .txt file to .csv or .xls format by going into Microsoft Excel, opening the .txt file, and stepping through the Text Import Wizard. Other ways to convert .txt files can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/gljl374

    Thanks,
    Emily

    Hi Emily,

Thank you so much (again!) for answering my questions with valued guidance. Your answer is what i've looked for!
For anyone with the same problem, here are the tips.

After opening the .txt result file using Microsoft Excel software, the .txt result file can be imported into Excel using Text Import Wizard seamlessly because the .txt result from LEAP has already been in comma-separated value type so we can set the Delimiter to comma in MIcrosoft Excel and everything is imported properly (see the steps in attachments).
