Hello, I want to use leap to develop future electricity fuel mix for my country that helps reach COP21 emission mitigation targets. Should I just do a demand analysis with environmental loading or is there a better way to do this? I am new to this, any help will be appreciated.

    Regards

    Hi Ahmed,

If you are only interested in reducing emissions on the supply side, and only for the electricity sector, at a minimum, you will need to include the total electricity demand for the demand branches. A detailed demand analysis (such as the inclusion of sectoral demands and device environmental loadings in the demand branches) is not necessary, but can be used if you are also assessing emissions reductions on the demand side, such as energy efficiency improvements.

Be sure to include a detailed electricity module with environmental loadings, as demonstrated in the LEAP training materials. You may also want to conduct a scenario analysis using multiple scenarios, where each scenario represents a potential fuel mix pathway, which can then be compared to the baseline scenario.

In general, there are many emissions reduction studies have been completed using LEAP, so take a look at some of the reports listed on our "Applications" page for further guidance (https://www.energycommunity.org/default.asp?action=applications).

    Hope this helps!
