The 16th Annual Training Workshop on Using LEAP for Energy Policy Analysis for Sustainable Development in Latin America

The Institute for Energy Economics of the Fundacion Bariloche (IDEE/FB) in Argentina has announced that it will again be running the "Annual Training Workshop on Using LEAP for Energy Policy Analysis for Sustainable Development in Latin America". This year marks the 16th running of the course. Since its inception, it has reached over 300 professionals working on energy planning and climate change mitigation analysis.

The workshop will be held in beautiful Bariloche, Argentina from June 5th to June 16th, 2017. It is designed to provide attendees with knowledge of energy and environmental analysis, in addition to introducing LEAP (the Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning system) - a widely used software tool for energy planning and climate change mitigation scenario analysis. Senior researchers from the Fundacion Bariloche will lead the workshop, which is intended for energy and environmental professionals from a variety of backgrounds: government agencies, non-governmental organizations, universities and the private sector. Please note that the workshop will be conducted entirely in Spanish. The workshop is split into two week-long segments: week one will focus on concepts of energy policy and planning, while week two will be devoted to an intensive LEAP training.

Those interested in attending the workshop are required to complete an application form to be returned to IDEE/FB before May 2nd, 2017. The total tuition cost is US$1600. IDEE/FB will offer a limited number of scholarships of up to US$600 to help reduce this cost. All attendees will be responsible for covering their travel, room and subsistence costs. Applicants interested in applying for a scholarship need to complete a separate scholarship application form and return it to Fundacion Bariloche by May 2nd, 2017.
