    Hi,

I have reading that before there was some sort of program that could be linked to LEAP to analyse fuel chains. I am interested in following and generating results for a certain fuel chain, namely to understand CO2 emissions in different stages of the biomass value chain, for instance, including emissions from extracting crop residues, its transport to refineries until its end-use.

Is there any sort of tool I need to download to do that or can I do that directly in LEAP?

    Best regards

    Hi Ricardo,

There isn't a program that can be linked to LEAP to analyze fuel chains and LEAP itself isn't explicitly a lifecycle analysis software. However, LEAP has the capability to track emissions and local air pollution for different energy and non-energy processes. If you are looking to assess emissions for the biomass value chain, one way to go about this is by creating separate transformation modules for each supply-side process (i.e. crop extraction, transport and distribution) and assigning pollutant emission factors for the fuels used in these processes. For biomass end-use, you can specify pollutant emission factors for the biomass consumed in the demand branches. For information on adding emissions factors, refer to the following help page: http://energycommunity.org/WebHelpPro/Demand/Environmental_Analysis.htm

    Hope this helps!
