Topic: least cost optimization for penetration of efficiency technologiesSubscribe | Previous | Next

    Dear Taylor,

I currently work on the commercial sector specified model of country-level with LEAP.
Even if I am used to the previous version of LEAP
I wonder if it is possible with the current version to solve the optimization problem for the least cost penetration of new and efficient technologies competing with conventional technologies.
My question is how to make the least cost optimization problem for technology adoption in demand side.
    Should they be input externally?

    Many thanks,
    Lee

    Hi Munsu,

Yes, you will need to develop these technology penetration rates outside of LEAP, or, use LEAP's expressions to calculate adoption rates internally (using a function of your own design). LEAP does not have the capability to optimally select least-cost technologies across both the supply and demand side of the model.

    Best,
    Taylor
