    Hello LEAP Users,

I am considering to use LEAP with a goal of quantifying the energy and emission saving potential of advanced process and technologies in the Manufacturing sector. However, I am not well aware of the capabilities of LEAP with regard to its technology resolution. For example, can one add a specific demand-side technology with all its consumption and GHG emission characteristics?
I would greatly appreciate your response on this.

    Thank you in advance,

Short answer - yes. In LEAP, you build a flexible tree data structure that can have as much technology detail as you like. Each technology is associated with an energy carrier (fuels, electricity or heat), which in turn can be associated with emission factors for any pollutant: GHGs or other pollutants.

LEAP only considers operational phase emissions (normally from fuel combustion). It does not consiser construction phase emissions during the building of an energy technology. In other words, it is not a life cycle assessment tool. However, it is an integrated model, so it doesn’t consider energy use and emissions across all sectors of an economy. It does also some capabilities to consider non-energy sector emissions from sectors such as industrial processes, land use change, forestry, solid waste, etc.
