Topic: Limiting the use of renewable energy resourcesSubscribe | Previous | Next

    Hello,
In LEAP, is it possible to specify a limit for the use of renewable energy resources?
For example, a country has technical potential of 1 TWh solar thermal or wind power (or alternatively specified as 500 MW capacity).
Is it possible to make sure that the results produced by LEAP will not exceed these amounts?
Or the only option is trial and error?
    Regards,
    Angel

    Hi Angel,

You can set the Maximum Built Capacity so that it does not exceed the resource yield or technical potential of a renewable resource.

For example, if you've entered the technical potential in the Yield variable under the Resource branches, you can use this example expression to convert the yield to a capacity:

    Maximum Built Capacity = Resources\Primary\Wind:Yield[MWh] * Process Efficiency / 8760 / Maximum Availability

    Hope this helps,
    Emily
