We build a 5 region of LEAP database. When
we run LEAP, 45% total electricity is from power plants in Region 1 and Region
3, 55% is imported from beyond areas.
How we can limit the import electricity?
Let all electricity is generated by region power plants.

    Hi Marsha,

If you aren't already doing so, be sure to use the regional trade feature to import and export electricity between regions. This feature can be enabled through Basic Parameters: Calculations by deselecting the "Assumed no regional trade" checkbox. Once enabled, you will see two new variables in the Resources branch called "In Area Export Fraction" and "In Area Import Fraction" where you can specify import/export fractions between regions. Refer to the following help pages for more information to how to use these variables:

If you continue to see imports beyond the area, it may be because the transformation processes are not generating enough electricity to meet demand requirements*. This may be due to insufficient power plant capacity, low process availability or efficiency. Check these process variables in Analysis View to ensure they are correctly specified, and that sufficient new capacity is being added either exogenously or endogenously.

    Hope this helps,
    Emily

*Note that this is only true if there are no Import Targets specified for the output fuel, and if the Shortfall Rule is set to "ImportstoMeetShortfall", as described here.
