Topic: Specifying Exogenous Capacity Properly in Optimization ScenarioSubscribe | Previous | Next

    Greetings,

    1. How do we specify exogenous capacity properly when we've already activated optimization techniques (by writing "yes" on optimize column)?
    2. What value do we need to write inside exogenous capacity so that LEAP can optimize precisely what, when, and how much Technologies that have to be generated or added to meet Demand requirement using LEAP's optimization techniques?

Because when we wrote 0 in Exogenous Capacity, LEAP will not use these Technologies.
When we wrote base year value, LEAP will only use base year value of these Technologies for the entire years

Thank you for anyone who will answer my question.

    Hi Wicaksono,

Are the electricity demand requirements being met when you are running the optimization, or are the demands not being met at all?

Even if you leave the Exogenous Capacity as 0, LEAP should still use these technologies. The capacity variables that influence how optimized capacity is added include Minimum Capacity, Maximum Capacity, Minimum Capacity Addition and Maximum Capacity Additions. Check that these variables are correctly specified. The main reason why LEAP wouldn't add a certain process is if it is not least-cost. Another reason why new capacity wouldn't be added is if the demands and reserve requirements are being met through the exogenous capacity.

If you could provide more information on what you are seeing (such as screenshots, or a LEAP model file) that would be great.

    Thanks,
    Emily

    Hi Ghosh

Thank you for your explanation. It helps me and it is clear enough.
