    Greetings,

How to limit renewable resources (e.g. hydro, geothermal) so that in our energy mix result (output by feedstock fuel), the hydro power plant doesn't yield too much.
In my simulation, even though I've tried to write 0 in Yield on under Resources branch, still, the hydro power plant and geothermal made almost half of our energy mix.
I want to limit the renewable resources so that the simulation is depicting real situation.

Thank you for anyone who will answer my question.

    Hi Wicaksono,

Since LEAP's calculations start at the top and goes down the tree sequentially, changing the Yield in the Resources branch (which is near the bottom of the tree) won't affect the amount of fuel used in the Transformation modules. The Yield variable is used to determine the amount of fuel imports, so if you set the Yield to 0, LEAP will just import in the required fuel. Since a country obviously can't import hydro, you will have to ensure that the imports are zero by limiting its deployment.

To limit the deployment of renewable resources, I suggest changing the Maximum Availability variable.

If you would like to show how the renewable resource availability changes throughout the year, you can even create a Yearly Shape to represent the availability during each time-slice. To do this, go to General:Yearly Shapes to add a new yearly shape. Ensure that you change the Shape Type to "Availability Shape", then input the availability data during each time slice. After you enter the data, go back to the Maximum Availability variable and link your expression to the availability profile by entering YearlyShape(Shape Name).

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Ghosh,

Thank you for answering my question. It's clear now for limiting renewable resources.

    Regards,
    Wicaksono.
