Topic: Optimization given load shapes for each demand device Subscribe | Previous | Next

    Hello,

I was trying to use optimize the module's capacity expansion. Unlike other scenarios where capacity is added endogenously, in the optimization scenario I am not getting any additions at all. I was wondering if this is due to the fact that my model is based on load shapes specifically defined for the demand devices. Any ideas or comments on what is happening?. Thanks in advance for your time and patience.

    Cheers,

    Patricio

    Hi Patricio -

Do you mean that you have selected Load Shapes: For Each Demand Device, in Basic Params?

Using the optimization capability, right now you are limited to the shape of type "% of Annual Generation". LEAP should catch demand-side load shapes as an error, though I note that it is not doing that right now.

    Hello Taylor,

Thanks for your reply. I have specified to use load shapes for each demand device in basic parameters. I am not sure if I am understanding correctly, you mean optimization is not possible when you do not specify a load shape for the entire system?

    Cheers,

    Patricio

That's right, Patricio. It's a limit of the implementation of OSeMOSYS in LEAP.
