Hi Hady,
LEAP does not assume the characteristics of different technologies. If you would like to show how the availability of solar (or another renewable resource) varies between day and night, you can create a Yearly Shape to specify the resource availability during each time slice. Here are the steps for doing this.
- Step 1: First go into the time-slice dialog box (accessed through General: Time Slices) and create day and night time slices.
- Step 2: After setting up the time-slices, go to General: Yearly Shapes to add a new yearly shape. Ensure that you change the Shape Type to "Availability Shape", then input the solar availability during each time slice in the "Avg. Value" column.
- Step 3: After setting up the yearly shape, go back to the Maximum Availability variable for the PV process branch and link your expression to the availability profile by entering the expression YearlyShape(Shape Name).

Hope this helps!
