    Hey,

I wanted to check if LEAP understands that PV technology only works in mornings and accounts for that for night energy generation. I have checked the LEAP Exercises and the help files and nothing is available about that topic.

    Hi Hady,

LEAP does not assume the characteristics of different technologies. If you would like to show how the availability of solar (or another renewable resource) varies between day and night, you can create a Yearly Shape to specify the resource availability during each time slice. Here are the steps for doing this.

    • Step 1: First go into the time-slice dialog box (accessed through General: Time Slices) and create day and night time slices.
    • Step 2: After setting up the time-slices, go to General: Yearly Shapes to add a new yearly shape. Ensure that you change the Shape Type to "Availability Shape", then input the solar availability during each time slice in the "Avg. Value" column.
    • Step 3: After setting up the yearly shape, go back to the Maximum Availability variable for the PV process branch and link your expression to the availability profile by entering the expression YearlyShape(Shape Name).

For more information on the above topics, refer to the following help pages:

    Hope this helps!
