    Hello team,

I read some papers regarding generation expansion planning by using LEAP. And on those papers, the authors wrote about reliability indices such as Energy Not Served (ENS). I am wondering, can LEAP calculate Energy Not Served (ENS)?

    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi Etis -

LEAP's energy supply modeling is designed around a set of transformation "modules" that attempt to produce outputs to meet the requirements on these modules. But there are reasons that a module's requirements may not be satisfied (i.e. due to capacity constraints). Using LEAP's Results view, you may view these for the module in question by selecting Transformation: Imports into Module, Transformation: Unmet Requirements, or Transformation: Average Power not Dispatched.

I recommend experimenting with a test model to understand what type of insight LEAP can give for ENS estimates as you define this metric.

    Best,
    Taylor

Thank you Taylor for your explanation. I have another question regarding demand analysis. if I want to make an analysis for electricity planning, but I have a lack of data, so I could not input demand data until its end-use, still I could do the demand analysis? could you give me any suggestions?

    Thank you.
