    Hi Palidan,

Yes you can. First. you will need to install LEAP on the new computer, then enter your user name and registration code to fully enable it. Finally, copy the "LEAP Areas" folder (normally found under "My Documents") from your old computer to your new computer. You will then have access to any of the LEAP areas you were previously working on.

Hello, I am new user to LEAP. I want to run LEAP in my Macbook, is it possible? I tried with Wine bottler, but the LEAP doesn't launch

    Hi Palidan,

I'm afraid the short answer is "no". LEAP is a Windows-based program and is not designed for Apple or Linux operating systems. Note also that to install LEAP you must have administrator rights on your PC.

However there are at least three possible workarounds for this:

    1. You can use Apple's Bootcamp software to install a copy of Windows on your Mac and you can then choose to boot your Mac to either Mac OS or Windows. You will of course need to purchase a copy of Windows. See this for more information: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201468 Once you have done this, you can then install LEAP within Windows on your Mac,

    2. You can install Windows onto your Mac using Virtual Machine hosting software such as VMWare Fusion (https://store.vmware.com), Parallels (https://www.parallels.com) or Virtual Box (https://www.virtualbox.org/) I personally use VMWare Fusion but many people prefer Parallels. You would need to purchase one of these tools plus Windows. You can then install Windows within a VM and install LEAP into that VM. The advantage of this approach is that you could have LEAP (and other Windows programs) running at the same time as your Mac apps.

    3. You can try to get LEAP running directly within Mac OS using Wine. In the past, I have managed to get it running using the Wine Bottler tool but this is not easy and will require quite a lot of experimentation. Here is a document that shows how to do it: https://www.energycommunity.org/documents/leaponmac.pdf. Unfortunately, Wine and Wine Bottler have changed significantly since I wrote this in 2012 so it may not be very helpful. Note also that even if you do succeed, you will still not be able to use key features such as the LEAP API and LEAP will not be able to communicate with other tools such as Excel or PowerPoint (since these rely on the Windows-based COM architecture as does the LEAP-IBC and LEAP-WEAP extensions). Please bear in mind that we cannot provide any support to those using LEAP within WINE. For all these reasons I strongly recommend against this 3rd option.

    I hope this is helpful!
