Hi Ali,
Have you compared the results in the training exercise to the Energy Balance in LEAP? This can help you determine where you may have inputted a value incorrectly. Start from the bottom by checking the demands, and then work your way up through the T&D module, Electricity Generation module, etc. If the problem is related to the Electricity Generation module, make sure that you have correctly specified the Exogenous and Endogenous Capacity so that enough capacity is being added to meet demands.
If you are unsure of what to input, you can always compare your model to the completed version of Freedonia that is built into LEAP. First, save your working model, then go to Area: Open from LEAP's main menu to open the Freedonia model. Then, select Area:Revert to Version to view the exercise you are on.
With regards to your second question, you can create new scenarios under the Reference scenario to assess different energy policies. For example, if you no longer want coal power plants to be built in the future, create a new scenario through the
Scenario Manager, change the Exogenous Capacity of all coal power plants to 0 at some point in the future, and remove coal from the Endogenous Capacity variable. Exercises 4 and 6 of the Training Exercises reviews how to create new scenarios, and how to compare them in LEAP. Also, take a look at the Results and Scenario video tutorials for more information:
