i want to know that how to calculate environmental loading of a certain area using a certain fuel. the values in freedonia are reliable i mean if value of usage of fuel is different what environmental loading will i enter for that one. please guide how to calculate them properly

    Hi Ali,

The emission factors entered in the Environmental Loadings variable are typically entered on a per unit basis (for example, Kilogram of CO2 per unit of energy consumed in Terajoules, or kg/TJ), and is specific to a process.

LEAP multiples the fuel consumed in a given process by the emission factor to calculate the total emissions for that process. The emissions factor is a constant that does not need to change. The emissions factor for a coal power plant in one model can be used in another model, as long as both plants have similar characteristics and use the same type of fuel. So technically, you can use the same emission factors used in the Freedonia model (which are IPCC Tier 1 factors) in your model as well.

    Hope this helps,
    Emily
