    Dear LEAP Team,

I have created 4 energy demand scenarios in LEAP for the period 2016 to 2030 and am so far very happy with the results am getting.

However, on the supply side, i already have generation data (in PJ) processed for the period 2016 to 2030 for each year in excel.
the problem am having is how to input this data in a simple way in LEAP transformation/supply module.

Kindly advise how best i can simply do this, coz LEAP on supply side seem to be too difficult for me to do this in a simple way with such data to enable me run comparisons with each of the other 4 demand scenarios.

    Kind regards.

    Charles

    Hi Charles,

If you prefer to use the generation data you have available, you'll need to first switch to Current Accounts, then set the First Simulation Year for each transformation process to say "EndYear" and then update the Historical Production variable with the generation data from 2016 to 2030 using the Interp function.

By setting the First Simulation Year to the end year, LEAP does not calculate new capacity additions or generation. You will also need to ensure that you have specified the capacity for each year in the Exogenous Capacity variable.

    Hope this helps,
    Emily

    Good Day Emily,

Based on your guidance, i have attached input and results screen shots. I dont know where am missing it. Your further guidance will be appreciated.

    Hi Charles,

It appears that you have entered the inputs for the First Simulation Year and Historical Production correctly. Some other things to check include the Exogenous Capacity (check the units and make sure it is non-zero), Process Efficiency and Maximum Availability (ensure these are non-zero).

Also, for the First Simulation Year variable, upon second thought, I think you should change the expression to EndYear + 1, otherwise LEAP will calculate the data for the year 2030 instead of using the data you inputted.

If you continue to have issues, feel free to send a copy of your .LEAP file either by attaching it to your post or emailing it leap@sei.org and I can take a look at why you aren't getting any results for electricity generation. To create a .LEAP file, go to Area -> Backup.

    Thanks,
    Emily
