    Hello,

The feature in the "Scenario Manager" menu where you are able to add inheritance for a scenario using additional scenarios, other than the parent scenario, is really useful when creating a scenario that combines the expressions from many other scenarios. However, the process of clicking on the green plus button, and then choosing individual scenarios from the drop down menu that appears, is a very slow and tedious process if one is adding a large number of additional scenarios for inheritance. I find it quicker to use import/export with excel instead. It would be helpful and more efficient if the process of choosing scenarios for inheritance could be the check-boxing of the whole list of scenarios so that the scenarios can be chosen all at once, instead of clicking the green plus to add one scenario at a time. Is there any alternative more efficient way currently available to do this besides excel import/export?

Hi Mathew - thanks for the feedback. I think the way you are using it is the only practical method so far for editing inheritance (although you could try futzing around with an API script).

I am a bit surprised though that this is a major hindrance. Can I ask how many scenarios you have in total? You may be using LEAP in a way I had not previously envisaged. Would be useful too if you could share a screen shot of your Scenario Manager screen showing all your scenarios.

    Thanks!

    Charlie

Thank you Matthew, for bringing up this suggestion.

This has not been a major problem when doing a few number of scenarios, but once is aa while, when doing a national level scenario analysis with inclusion of energy small details, it has been a cumbersome experience for me as well. In my case, our team at Center for Energy Studies, IOE, Nepal have devised altogether 20+ separate scenarios, of which 10+ are for non energy scenario alone, while in energy scenario we limited to 8 (while adding more scenarios with each update of model every year) by including all interventions within sectoral scenario - just as to keep it simpler. Attached herewith is screen shot of sample scenarios.
But now that MAC functionality is built-in in LEAP system, we are also keen on doing similar disaggregated for energy sectors - like as clean cooking, Solar Lighting, LED lighting - separately for residential sector and similarly for other sector.

For this, the idea put upon by Matthew would be very helpful.

    Thankfully,
    Utsav

    Hi Charlie,

Thanks for the quick reply. I will try doing this through API. I attached a screen shot but not all of my scenarios fit into the shot. For my current project I am combining 24 scenarios into 1, for 4 different scenario groups, so a total of 96 scenarios that need to be added as an additional scenario through the inheritance.

    Thanks,
    Matt
