    Dear LEAP Support,

I am working on my 1st project/exercise in LEAP so my question might be a bit basic for most people here.

I am trying to introduce a new technology (Electric vehicle) via a scenario (EV) and I was able to express its energy intensity in kWh/passenger-km. Now, I wish to incorporate its projected efficiency in 2030.

I would just like to know how to implement that? Thanks.

    Regards,
    Anthony

    Two basic approaches for this:

    • Either have two separate branches: one for existing vehicles and another for efficient vehicles (with a different, lower energy intensity). Then use Interp or similar functions to describe the introduction of one technology and the phase out of the other.

    • Alternatively, only have one technology and use a Growth or Interp function to describe the gradual improvement in the average intensity of all vehicles.

Note also for vehicles, you can either use a simpler activity level/energy intensity approach, or you can use a more detailed stock turnover modeling approach.

I recommend looking at the LEAP training exercises for examples of all of the above techniques.

    Dear Charles,

Thank you for the answer. I'll also check these training exercises online.
