Concerning the setting of merit order, I found that the value is different in various model demo. Generally, coal power is base load so the merit order should be set 1. Natural gas power is peak load so the merit order should be set 3, and so on.

But the merit order of coal power and other powers in the model of Freedonia and Time Slice Demo are different. Does it be decided by the research objective? Could you please explain the criteria of Merit order setting. Thank you.

    Sincerely,
    Liya

Its up to you to set those values to match how the plants are dispatched in their local context.

Thank you so much for your reply, Charles.

By the way, could you please interpret the principle of NEMO calculation method. That means, what equations or theory does NEMO follow? Any responses would be appreciated.

    Sincerely,
    Liya

I don't think I could do that in a single post. Please start on this topic by reading this describing NEMO. Please also read this section of the User Guide, which introduces the use of optimization in LEAP (using NEMO and/or OSeMOSYS).

    Dear Charles,

Concerning the Load Shapes under the tab of Calculations of Settings, what kind of Load Shapes should be chosen for energy storage model such as Time Slice Demo? Must the Load Shapes be chosen as For each demand device (system shape calculated)? Thank you.

    Sincerely,
    Liya
