    Dear all,
Is it possible to model hydrogen tank as intermediate storage of hydrogen production before the hydrogen is used by the demand?
    Thank you very much.

    Hi Rahmat,

Thanks for the question and sorry for my very slow response. Other than when modeling storage as part of electricity generation modules, I have not yet tried modeling short-term storage of other energy carriers such as hydrogen.

LEAP does now have pretty good capabilities for modeling storage when used in conjunction with NEMO and it should be possible to model hydrogen storage (or for that matter almost any type of storage such as batteries, pump-storage, molten salt or compressed air systems. However, LEAP is still currently limited by only being able to do optimization on a single Transformation module within an energy system.

The good news is that we are currently working on allowing LEAP and NEMO to support full energy system optimization modeling (similar to other modeling like TIMES and MESSAGE). This should allow for a much wider range of systems to be modeled. Stay tuned for further updates on this later in the year.

    Best,

    Charlie
