Topic: How to set up regional transmission/trading for optimization?Subscribe | Previous | Next

    Hi,

Inspired by the work of ASEAN Energy Outlook 7 (AEO7) and others, I am planning to also use LEAP in my master thesis on mainland Southeast Asia's electricity interconnection expansion.

I am setting up my model as multi-regions and enabling trading between regions. The energy tradable between regions are electricity and natural gas. I would like to include electricity interconnection in the optimization but not the natural gas pipeline (assuming constant throughout the modeling period).

Any tutorial on how to include the expansion of electricity interconnection in LEAP optimization? From this post (https://leap.sei.org/default.asp?action=9&fid=22&TID=3839), it seems that I need to create an explicit "imports" process within the electricity generation module with a new fuel type. Or should I create a separate module under the Transformation branch for regional electricity transmission and optimize it along with the electricity generation module?

Thank you for any advice or suggestions!
