Topic: How to generate repetitive technologies data (fuel) to many branch? Subscribe | Previous | Next

Given that our model encompasses numerous branch categories structured around energy intensity per 4-digit industrial classification, I'd like to inquire about a method to efficiently replicate technology data across all branches. Specifically, I've completed work on one branch but haven't addressed the technology aspect. Is there a way to copy the repetitive technology data, such as fuel types, to all branches? Alternatively, is there an export/import mechanism available to streamline the generation of technology data, including fuel share and energy intensity?

There's a few options you can explore for this:

    1. Set a default expression for a variable (right-click on the variable tab and select its properties. This will let you set default values for all branches for a given variable.
    2. Import data for all variables of different branches using the Analysis: Create Branches/Update Data from Excel function. See this page for more info. I think this option is probably your best one.
    3. You could also just use the Analysis: Export to Excel Template and Analysis: Import from Excel Template options. But I think option #2 would be easier for your case.
    4. Finally, if you really want to get sophisticated you could explore using LEAP's API in conjunction with external data sources to populate branches.
