Topic: Electricity generated from renewable always recognized as fully imported rather than produced. Subscribe | Previous | Next

    Hi all,

In my energy model, I've incorporated two primary electricity generation processes:
    1.Natural Gas
    2. Solar

Solar installations currently represent approximately 10% of the total installed capacity. I have included the capacities for both NGCC and solar as inputs, along with planned future capacity expansions.

However, I'm encountering a problem in both baseline and mitigation scenarios. When I prioritize solar dispatch in the merit order, the model consistently outputs that all electricity is generated from imported renewables, without recognizing any contribution from the domestic solar capacity that would have been covered (produced). Conversely, if I adjust the merit order to favor natural gas, it appears that natural gas alone meets all demand (I understand this part).

I appreciate any advice on how to adjust the model so it reflects the electricity produced from solar according to the existing installed capacity, and uses natural gas to meet the remaining demand given that import option is not considered.

Note: I tried other dispatch rules I got the same, yet I think the merit order would serve my purpose.

Apologies if I overlooked something that might have been otherwise obvious.
    Thanks

Check your resource branches and make sure that you have specified values under the Maximum Production variable for your renewable fuels (in LEAP2020 and earlier this variable was named "Yield").
