LEAP keeps track of units and scales, and converts them internally, as long as you correctly specify the units when adding new variables. This is also true for data read in from excel, the unit on the variable where you read in the excel file just needs to match scale and unit in your file. New fuels not in the LEAP data base can be added to the database (see screenshot), where you also specify their energy content.
